Medieval front part almost square buckle plate of thick sheet, broken at the fold, with pin slot, frame recesses and two rivet holes near attachment edge. The front surface is decorated along the outside edge and both sides with a line of rocker-arm engraving (now very faint) and with an engraved line between the rivet holes and two others running parallel with the sides, one of which continues as a spiral that covers most of the inner space, a most unusual decorative motif. 18mm (excluding fold) by 19mm. 0.7mm thick. 13th century.
