Late Medieval or post medieval copper alloy mount, 21mm long, 21mm wide and 1mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a green patina and weighs 1.01 grams. The object is rectangular in form and consists of a bird portrait within a raised frame. The frame is plain and has overlapping edges which form two sub circular protrusions at each corner. Within each corner is a stylised four petalled flower motif. The portrait consists of a bird standing on the ground with its wings outstretched behind it, facing what appears to be an upright twig or plant stem. The reverse of the object has some hollow areas which co-incide with raised areas on the front. This gives the impression that the object has been pressed, but it has clear casting ridges running along its edges. The object has no obvious signs of suspension or fixing, so it was probably mounted into something?
