Romano-British Continental hinge-headed enamelled brooch, tubular wings with fragment of hinged pin, twin broad transverse grooves above lozengiform bow with central orange enamelled roundel on lozengiform field with traces of greenish-grey decayed enamel, within grooved and notched border, horizontal step with notched edge above highly stylised zoomorphic foot with engraved saltire between ring-and-dot eyes and traces of lines of C-shaped engraving, triangular catch-plate on reverse, 19 x 44mm. Cf. Hattatt (1987) no.1553. Late 1st-mid 2nd century AD.
