A cast copper alloy rectangular buckle plate. Only one plate from the composite buckle plate survives. The plate has been broken widthways, so it is now square. No rivet holes or any other form of attachment survives. The front surface of the plate has been decorated with deeply incised lines which have created fields. Some of the fields remain undecorated; others have been infilled with the 13th century style of engraving known as ‘rocker arm’ (as seen on the buckle plate on the reference below). The reverse is undecorated. No other part of the buckle survives. The metal is a mid greenish-brown colour. This type of buckle plate dates from the 13th century.
