Engraving on paper of Lot’s wife turning around from a series of Old Testament sinners, engraved and published by Raphael Sadeler (1560/61-1628/32) after a design Maarten de Vos (1532-1603) in Antwerp in 1583. Latin verse below is based on Genesis 19. While Lot and his daughters flee into the mountains on the left, his wife turns back and is turned into a pillar of salt. On the right, sulphur rains down from the heavens destroying Sodom and Gomorrah.
