Broeck, Crispin van den, after
Engraving on paper of episodes from the life of Noah from a series of Genesis stories, attributed to Adriaen Collaert (c.1560-1618) after Crispin van den Broeck (1524-1589/91) and probably published by Eduard van Hoeswinckel (fl. 1570s-1583) in Antwerp between 1579 and 1583. The central panel depicts Noah and his family loading animals onto the ark. The three smaller scenes are, from left, the Flood (the ark floats safely in the background as people struggle to escape the waters), Noah leads the animals off the ark as the flood subsides, and Noah’s sacrifice on Mount Ararat. Latin verse inscribed on cartouche below briefly describes the scenes.
