Cushion cover velvet has been stamped with an elaborate design of flower and foliage decoration surrounding an eagle holding a banner 'WHITEHURST GALLERIES' then below this in the central area 'NEW YORK BALTIMORE RICHMOND NORFOLK PETERSBURG LYNCHBURG'

Her left hand is beneath her chin, her right hand in her lap. She wears a gold necklace, gold bracelets on each wrist, and a gold brooch. Her hair is parted in the middle and sweeps back to cover her ears. She sits on an upholstered chair with a pink back, covered with lace or similar. Hand coloured, gold highlights.

The case is in book-form, with an overlapping flap which folds over from the right side. A metal tongue slips into a receiving slot on the front to close it.

He wears trousers, jacket, waistcoat, shirt, collar and bow tie. Clean shaven with hair parted at the side. To his left sits a seated woman wearing a blouse, long sleeved bodice and skirt. She wears a necklace, earrings and brooch at her throat., with hair fastened back, parted in the middle. Seated on the woman's lap is a young girl, wearing a short sleeved white dress. Her hair is fastened back with white ribbons above her ears. The woman's right hand is resting around the young girl's side and her left hand on the young girl's dress. Plain background

The stereo pair of images are hinged to fold in the middle. These are contained within a leather-covered card slip-case of a dark red-brown colour, with an incised line around the edges, 93 x 91 x 14 mm. The unusual housing may mean that they were originally intended to be seen in a Wheatstone viewer, later being joined for viewing in a Brewster type viewer.
