Her left hand holds a closed fan, and she leans her head on this hand, the elbow resting on a plinth that terminates in low square stone pillar that supports an urn from which plant foliage and flowers are trailing. She wears a pale, broad-brimmed hat with an ostrich feather above the crown. She wears a shawl that is plain and dark around the shoulders, and has a striped and fringed border. Her dress below is full, white and lacy.
