Two-piece dress, hand painted cotton (sits), flower and leaf motif in the colors red, orange, green, and blue. The background is natural-colored finely woven cotton. The dress has a low neckline, long tight sleeves, a high waist and a wrinkled, open falling skirt. Below this, a loose skirt of the same material is worn. The bodice of the dress closes at the front with hook and eye. The body and the sleeves have a linen lining. This dress has been made into an Empire dress. Originally it was a two-piece dress with plis-Wâtteau, the so called Robe à la Française. The body and the sleeves are lined with a firm linen.
