Parchment folio from a Gospel book written and illuminated c. 1536 in the Suynik' province of Armenia for Esayi the 'great vardapet' (abbot). A folio of text from the Gospel of Mark. The recto includes an illumination within the text (Mark 21.2-6). The painting depicts the Entry into Jerusalem with Jesus sitting on a donkey followed by three apostles approaching the gates to the city. The text continues on the verso.
