
Rubens, Peter Paul, after
Mezzotint portrait on paper of Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) with his wife, Helena Fourment (1614–1673) and their son Frans (1663-1678), engraved by James McArdell (1729-1765) and published in London between 1740 and 1765; proof state before lettering. It is a copy of a painting by Peter Paul Rubens now in the Metropolitan Museum (1981.238). The family are shown in their garden in Antwerp. For a comment on McArdell see Wep 4178.12.
