A miniature glass toy goblet of probable 16th or 17th century AD date. This piece is one of a group of three miniature items found within a discreet area - See also BH-1F1224 and BH-26CDF5. Most toys of this period are made from base metal; glass toys are extremely unusual.The object has a bowl-shaped cup which has thick walls and is decorated on its outer face with a raised pattern comprised of alternately arranged upward and downward pointing double triangles, bounded at the top and bottom by a horizontal border. The rim of the cup is not flat but angled slightly downwards from the inside to outside edge. The stem is circular in section, short and wide; at the bottom it splays gradually outwards into the circular foot on the underside of which is a raised ring. The diameter of the foot is smaller than that of the cup. The object is slightly damaged at the top and bottom, but is otherwise intact. The glass is a light greenish colour.The object measures 22.4mm high, by 19.9mm wide at the top; the weight is 7.7g.
