Lead plumb bob. Cast weight for a builders' or surveyors' plumbline. The object is formed like a miniature globular vessel with a narrow neck flared at its rim, though solid. Converging holes of diameter 2.7mm are drilled at the centre of the top and in the side of the neck. Patinated overall with a presumably post-depositional scratch in the side. The find spot is in the vicinity of Ermine Street. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410.Height: 34.1mm, Diameter: 22.7mm, Weight: 70.10gms.
