Lead Roman miniature votive axe head: cast with a vertical perforation for the missing separate haft. The head is of wedge-shaped section. The upper face is horizontal, the lower face is slightly angled down to the heel. There is no nape. Length 15mm, width6mm. See Kiernan, P., (2009) Miniature Votive Offerings in the Roman North-West (Wiesbaden), BR41. This axe head is lead rather than the more commonly employed iron or copper alloy. However it belongs to Kiernan's Type 2. Probably not later than c.200 AD.
