Flint petit tranchet arrowhead that is shaped like a miniature flanged axe in plan and is lozenge-shaped in profile and in section. The arrowhead has been retouched on the right and left margins of both the ventral and the dorsal faces, but part of the right margin, where the flake had originally snapped off from its core, is unworked, from about half way along its length to the distal end. The proximal end of the arrowhead is tapered for hafting and is broken above the bulb of percussion on the ventral face, where it would have been tied to an arrow shaft. The distal end has also been worked on the dorsal face to create an oblique curved piercing edge.The flint is mottled light to dark grey in colour and is probably made from a local beach pebble. The length to breadth ratio is about 6:5.Bond (2004) illustrates petit tranchet arrrowheads on page 135, Fig.5.121, No.F48, and on page 143, Fig.5.129, No.F155, which are both dated to the Late Neolithic.
