MEDIEVAL HARNESS PENDANT

1250

A cast copper alloy miniature horse harness pendant. The pendant is shaped like a flower, with six petals. The upper petal has been made into a loop, which is set at a 90° angle to the rest of the pendant. The pendant is corroded and has lost much of its original surface. The surface of the pendant is otherwise undercoated, but may once have been enamelled. The reverse is flat. The metal is a patchy dark reddish-brown colour. This artefact probably dates from the medieval period, circa 1250 - 1500.
