An incomplete copper alloy toy miniature cannon of late post-medieval date. The toy is comprised of a circular barrel, or cascable, which tapers in diameter from the cascable to the muzzle. The cascable end is slightly fluted with a raised rim and projecting knop at the end. Two trunnions, or basal lugs for attachment to a block or stock project midway along the barrel. The tip of the muzzle is lost to old breaks. The metal has a mid brown patina and is worn. The cannon is 52.1mm long, 27.7mm wide at the trunnions, 10.1mm in diameter and weighs 15.5g.Numerous similar, though smaller, examples can be seen on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database including: Unique ID: SWYOR-E21697, IOW-9F60A7, LANCUM-EC68C8, YORYM-831B24 and YORYM-6A5AA5.
