An incomplete cast copper alloy toy miniature cannon of late post-medieval date. The toy is comprised of a circular barrel, or cascable, which tapers in diameter from the bulbous knop, or cascable button, at one end to the muzzle at the other. The cascable end is slightly fluted with a double banded collar and two trunnions or basal lugs for attachment to a block or stock project midway along the barrel.Parts of the muzzle and barrel have been lost to old worn breaks. The damage may have occurred through use, as this was a working model, or deposition. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is very worn. The cannon is 64.3mm long, 12.3mm in diameter tapering to 9.1mm and weighs 21.2g.Numerous similar examples can be seen on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database including: Unique ID: SWYOR-E21697, IOW-9F60A7, LANCUM-EC68C8 and YORYM-6A5AA5.
