In 1514, in a timely manner close to his now so-called master engravings, Dürer made the small format genre copper engraving “Das tanzende 1515.” A peasant woman and a peasant, both of strong shape, dance dynamically a folk dance, whereby they fill out the picture almost completely. The artist refrains from any background design, which means that the focus is solely on the acting image personnel. The rich reception of the engraving is seen as an expression of artistic appreciation and the popularity of the subject.
