fyysinen kuvaus: Pääluettelo (VK225–226): Kastbräden, synbarligen hörande till föregående båge [VK224]. På inre sidan röd- på yttre sidan svartmålade. Flgs kat. 228–229. Heittolauta, veistetty sileästä ja kevyestä havupuusta. Lauta on pitkä, suorakaiteen muotoinen ja hieman kupera selkäpuolelta. Laudan alaosa on muotoiltu kädensijaksi: reikä ja lovi sivussa olivat etusormea varten ja kämmen nojasi syvennykseen. Nämä yksityiskohdat laudassa on maalattu selkäpuolella punaisella, muuten selkä on mustaksi maalattu. Punaiseksi maalatulla etupuolella on kapea ura ja mursunhampaasta veistetty tappi, joihin heitettävä nuoli asetettiin. Kädensijan ympäri on laitettu pari jännenyörillä sidottua tuohen palaa. Lautaan on lyijykynällä kirjoitettu ”Unalaska”. Aleuttien yleisin heittolauta 1800-luvulla oli juuri tällainen ”unalaskalainen”, joka oli litteä ja suorareunainen puulevy, vain maalaamalla koristeltu (Black, 1982). Throwing board carved from smooth and lightweight softwood. The board is long and rectangular and slightly convex on the back. The lower part of the board is formed as a grip: there is a hole where the hunter placed his index finger, an indentation in the side for his index finger and a dimple at the other side to support the palm. These details on the back of the board are painted with red otherwise the back is painted black. The bellyside is painted red and has a groove and an ivory peg to hold the dart or arrow. Wrapped around the grip there are two pieces of birch bark held in place with a sinew binding. The word “Unalaska” is written in pencil on the throwing board. The usual type of throwing board among the Aleut in the 1800s was this “Unalaskan” type, a flat and straight-edged piece of wood only decorated with painting (Black, 1982.)
