Michael Lekakis, along with sculpture, was also involved in painting. His painting compositions are initially more figurative, the subject matter is distinct, often realistically rendered, while they move in a low tonal colour scale, mainly in earthy tones. Gradually, however, the works become more abstract, with white and black dominating the colours, and he eventually moves on to a large series of works that move in the realm of geometric abstraction, such as the two paintings "Untitled" that belong to the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
