Als Dank für seine Vorträge über physische Geographie in der Berliner Singakademie stifteten die Zuhörer 1828 Alexander von Humboldt eine Medaille. Henri Francois Brandt schnitt die Stempel nach den Entwürfen von Friedrich Christian Tieck (Porträt Humboldts) und Christian Daniel Rauch (Revers).
