Gushtasp kills a monster wolf, folio from the Book of Kings (Shahnama). While travelling incognito in Rum (the Roman Empire), the Iranian prince Gushtasp fights and finally kills a monster wolf with his sword. The wolf has already savaged Gushtasp's horse, so he has to continue fighting it on foot. Folio, ink, colours and gold on paper, Persian verses in nasta`liq script, painting (on verso), detached folio from the Book of Kings (Shahnama), Iran, c. 1425-1450.
