Until the early twentieth century, decorated blouses were worn during ceremonies and rituals. To what extent decorated blouses were also worn in daily life is not clear from the literature. We can read that (married) women did not always wear blouses. There were times, however, when wearing such a garment was mandatory; when harvesting took place and when a woman took rice from the barn.´ Women and priests were responsible for working the bark and decorating the blouses. The decorations were made by painting the tree bark, in addition, motifs were applied using stamps.\With the introduction of woven cloth, among other things, tree bark clothing fell into disuse. At the beginning of the twentieth century decorated tree bark clothing was still worn at ceremonies.
