Trot, Oltenia, Craiova. The village communities erected over the course of the time, in the territory of the country, numerous monuments that met the spiritual needs of the inhabitants. Between these, a special place is the crosses and trots. The latter were located on the outskirts of the town or at the crossroads, at the border, near fountains and springs, in cemeteries or in the place where some people lost their lives. The vertical arm is made of a massive truncated oak trunk - similar to a fork with three arms, the middle one being short. The fixation of the components was done with cep. The horizontal arm, also made of oak wood, consists of three rows of crosses fixed between the beams. The roof, in four waters, has the shingle covering.Through the constructive solution - many joined arms and arcs - as well as the plastic manner of painting rendering, the trot demonstrates the ingenuity and originality of the folk craftsmen, it has the appearance of a “tree of life.” The decor is made by carving - ovaluri, circles, crosses, saw teeth - and painting. The painting is not legible.
