The artist copied the self-portrait, which Dürer integrated into the 1511 “All Saints' Picture” (cf. Vienna, Museum of Art History, Picture Gallery, Inv. No. 838) as outline drawing. The underlying painting was donated by the Nuremberg merchant Matthäus Landauer (circa 1450-1515) for the altar of the All Saints' Chapel of the Nuremberg Twelve Brotherhouse (cf. Heller Dürer 1827 II.256.8). The reproduction of Dürer’s still figure, which was published at Campe, is supplemented below by a text explaining the further provenance of the painting and referring to Campe’s 1828 “Relics of Albrecht Dürer.”
