Unknown artist
The artist made a portrait showing Albrecht Dürer as a graphic artist. The master of Nuremberg is unduly waved, wearing a hat and coat with fur collar. The long curls of the bear extend to his shoulders. In his hands he holds a still unworked metal plate and a burial stick. The fact that his view is firmly directed towards the observer suggests that it serves as a model for the artist. For Heller, the portrait “belonged to the most excellent portraits of Dürer” (cf. Heller Dürer 1827 II.323.39).
