The artist copied Dürer’s 1524 copper engraved portrait Willibald Pirckheimers from the original page. He translated it into a different technique and prayed it into a frame. Thus, the portrait is in a medallion that seems to be on a wall protrusion, where the inscription reduced to the name procession on the front informs about the depicted. In addition, the orientation towards the template can be clearly seen. At the same time Dürer, the artist designed the humanist, whose gaze shrinks into the distance, as a side-facing chest painting in the fur skirt. In the portrait there are no indications of Dürer as the spiritual creator of the image idea, nor of the actual artist and the time of creation. According to Heller, “C.G. Schmidt in Jena” (cf. Heller Dürer 1827 II.534,1083) produced the portrait published in May 1776 in Christoph Martin Wielands (1733-1803) in Weimar published journal “Der teutsche Merkur” (cf. Der teutsche Merkur, May 1776, zw. pp. 216 and 217).
