The artist adapted Dürer’s “Self Portrait in Fur Skirt” (cf. Munich, Alte Pinakothek, Inv.-Nr. 537) as a print-graphic frontispiece of the “Reliquien von Albrecht Dürer.” This is a small format booklet dedicated to Dürer’s written estate and the Nuremberg publisher Campe on the occasion of Dürer’s 300. Death day. He used numerous materials that Heller had collected for his own Dürer publication (cf. Mende 1976, Cat. No. 129). Together with the estate of Heller, a copy of the book went into the stock of the Royal Library (now JH.Bg.d.3 of the State Library Bamberg). From Dürer’s portrait there are separate deductions with and without inscription.
