The woodcut shows a portrait of Sebastian von Rotenhan (1478-1532) from the left profile. The chest image of the humanist and jurist with finely designed headgear was used in 1521 as a book illustration, which is evidenced by prints with front and back texts. Heller included the sheet under the heading “Doubtful Leaves” in his 1827 published Dürer publication. (Cf. Heller Dürer 1827 II.813,2144)
