\Negro dance costume.‖ Pants.‖ Pants belonging to the outfit of macehual negro dancer.‖ The pants are made of two rectangular pieces of cloth (L. 92 cm., W. 63½ cm., black flannel, and lined with cotton, white printed with a lilac stripe with stylized purple-orange flowers.‖ The whole is machine stitched together. Both lined cloths are folded in half and the fold is cut over 30 cm. at the top. At this place both halves are stitched together, so that the fold forms the inside of the trouser leg while the outside (of the leg) falls open to the waist. The parts sewn together thus form the crotch with a front and back flap which are fastened to the stomach and back respectively with two tapped straps. At the front, along the outer edge of both pipes, every 11 cm, a total of seven gold-coloured bells with a gold-coloured stalk or chain are attached. Bought with accessories b to g for 800 pesos = fl. 240,-- on 28 March 1971 in Zacatipan. 93½ cm., inner pipe 64 cm. and B. 48½ cm.‖ Three square, red cotton neckerchiefs, one printed with white roses, the other two with gold-and-black "India" print. Accesories to a. L. b. 54 cm., c. 54½ cm. and d. 57½ cm.‖ Whip with handkerchiefs : Accesories to a. Two men's handkerchiefs, f. white with grey-, g. with brown border; with a small safety pin attached to the loops of a whip e.. The whip is knotted in four strands from a long strip of light colored leather ½ cm. wide. At the other end is attached, with a pink ribbon, a rough-cut brown wooden castanet with grooves, (D. 4 cm.).L. handkerchiefs e. and f. 33 cm., L. whip e. 55 cm. A second, more finely carved but unworked castagnet found.
