To the left, an inn, with a tree rising above it stands by a road raised above the snore, to which access is gained by a flight of steps, at the top of which a man is standing. Further along the road are a man on horseback, another standing, a horse and cart, and two men walking. Then a building with BOATS on a placard attached to it. On the beach a long sailing-boat lies stranded. At the top of the tree is a projecting tuft of foliage formed by two upright lines, with an oblique line across them. There are light vertical lines on the front of the lowest step, but none on the two steps above it. The first five divisions of the side of the wall to right of the steps are entirely white, except that the fourth and fifth have small dots near the top. The man to right of the house marked BOATS is in outline.
