Sooey! Sooey! Long Beach, Calif.- Plain and fancy ways of rendering a "sooey", calculated to make any hog leave his rooting and come on the run, are demonstrated by these five competitors in the national hog calling contest to be held here sept. 13 in connection with the all states picnic. From left to right: Frank Heyden of Kansas gives the call that follows a puff on the pipe; Joe Turner of Indiana uses a one-handed megaphone technique and leans backward to get more volume; Jack Dalton of Oklahoma demonstrates the call that made him last year's national champion; Mrs. Nellie Collister, Michigan Champion, uses the two-handed megaphone call; and Edward Rill of Kansas goes in for an oversized double-handed megaphone style.
