Central Park on a summer night. (Bellows) / Central Park on a Spring night. Love genuine and make believe. -GB In his only lithographic night scene Bellows illustrated lovers in Central Park in a variety of poses and moods. In his description he indicates that the love may or may not be genuine. The title, however, suggests a completely different interest--that of the lonely figure on the left. A drawing similar to the lithograph, but reversed, appeared in "The Masses," September 1913. (Mason)
