Washington: House Democrats cracked an all-night Republican filibuster by using extraordinary lockup methods 10/9. clearing the way for a vote on legislation which could set up televised debate by the major Presidential candidates. Here, Rep. Robert Taft Jr. (R-Ohio) (left), who scuffled with a doorkeeper in an attempt to leave the Chamber during the lockup, and Rep. Brock Adams (D-Wash.), who moved for the lockup, check the time as they step outside the Capital for a breath of air. The lockup ended after an hour and 45 minutes, but the House continued in session for more than 27 hours.
