The view, drawn from nature, but In reverse as printed, from the hill over Farringford in the Isle of Wight, looking across the Solent, towards Hurst Castle and the New Forest. Golden Hill Fort, with smoke rising from a gun, is on the near shore. On the right is the Totland Bay Hotel. The horses have disappeared, the foliage of the trees below them having been raised. Any other changes among the trees and fields in the foreground. The hill to left of the road, instead of sloping down evenly to the left, slopes more abruptly and is much shaded. The smoke of the gun is very faint.
