The view, drawn from nature, but In reverse as printed, from the hill over Farringford in the Isle of Wight, looking across the Solent, towards Hurst Castle and the New Forest. Golden Hill Fort, with smoke rising from a gun, is on the near shore. On the right is the Totland Bay Hotel. The shape of the smoke from the gun altered; instead of rising almost to the farther shore, it bends down to the right. Two horses are still visible in a field, 3 in. from the left end of the plate.
