When Divers Sought Lost French Submarine. Cherbourg, France--Scene aboard the French salvage ship Fidele, showing one of the massive diving outfits being lowered into the ocean in an attempt to sink an air-line to the entombed members of the crew of the French submarine "Promethee", which sank during practice manuevers off the French coast. All attempts to reach the submarine failed, and sixty-three members of her crew perished. The commander and seven other seamen, who were on deck when the craft suddenly submerged, were rescued.
