Victim of mad killer

A modern jack-the-ripper dragged a west side Chicago woman into an alley early Monday, staged a vicious attack and slashed her throat, leaving his lifeless victim in the mud to invade her nearby home, dragged her daughter from bed and beat her until her fierce defense drove him off. The murder victim, Mrs. Sophie Millard, 43, lived with her husband, Charles, 60, a retired waiter, and their daughter, Theresa, 18, who is shown being comforted by another daughter, Mrs. Nina Thiem (right) in the police station.
