Vermont Still Life-This stump of a once-pound maple tree at West Dover, Vt., bears a sap bucket hung by some Vermonter with a touch of dry Yankee humor. Estimated to be 150 years old when in its prime, the maple once wore three and four buckets during the spring "sugar season."
