Whitworth gun - 12 pounder. Two of these English made rifles, breechloading cannon were used at Gettysburg by an Alabama Battery, the Hardaway Artillery. 3 inch ordinance rifle. The Federal model of this rifled iron cannon was the product of the Phoenix Iron Company, Phoenixville Pennsylvania. Approximately 200 of these cannon were used during the Gettysburg campaign.
