Wire from a well-wisher

Mrs. Lucille miller, 45, a bethel, Vt. housewife, and her husband, Manuel, 47, read a telegram from a well-wisher prior to the opening of her trial on charges of violating the selective service act. The millers made headlines in may when they held off U.S. marshals for 12 hours and refused to accept papers ordering Mrs. miller to a federal mental hospital. Today a jury of seven housewives and five men were chosen in federal court to try Mrs. miller, mother of three, on charges of attempting to influence young men to evade the draft. The constitutionality of the draft law looms as a possible vital issue. Following his wife's trial, Mr. miller will be tried on a charge of interfering with a U.S. marshal in the performance of his duty.
