The artist's father-in-law. Mr. Story was a New Yorker, as were his father and his grandfather. The latter fought in the War of 1812. (Bellows) / The artist's father-in-law was extremely affable. William E. Story of Montclair, New Jersey was a successful businessman (more so at some times than others), known for his dignity and his consistently pleasant personality. Emma was the youngest of his three children. (Mason)
