Charles Hammond, (l) of the state's attorneys office here takes written testimony from miss Winnie Vander Lei, 47, of grand Rapids, Mich., during a preliminary hearing here late 11/1. miss Vander lei, while posing as a man, was arrested 10/30 at a Springfield drive-in movie where a break-in had been attempted. woman, who is a mute, wrote that she had been posing as a man for the past 20 years, she shaves and wears a "butch" haircut. burglary tools and a .38 caliber revolver were found in her possession. police say she refused to give reason for dressing like a man.
