Aviation Pioneer in Hospital - Bert Acosta, pioneer transatlantic aviator, pours a drink of water in his hospital bed at Sydenham hospital here where he is seriously ill of a lung ailment. Acosta, listed in hospital records as 57 years old, flew the Atlantic in 1927 with Adm. Richard E. Byrd. With Clarence Chamberlain Acosta once set a world's endurance flight record of 51 hours and 11 minutes. A Manhattan public relations man, Fred Benham whom Acosta listed as his "next-of-kin," said he and other old friends of the aviator are handling financial arrangement for his medical care.
