Signs for 1949-- In his first official act as president of the St. Louis Cardinals Fred M. Saigh, Jr., (left), signed the Birds' ace left-handed pitcher, Harry (the Cat) Breechen. Here in the offices at Sportsman's Park yesterday, Breechen affixes his signature. No salary was disclosed but, Harry said he was given a good salary hike.
