Yankee Stoppers--These four Philadelphia Athletics players celebrate in dressing room here today after halting temporarily the drive of the New York Yankees to a third successive American League pennant. Left to right are Gus Zernial who clouted his 33d home run, Bobby Shantz who pitched his 18th victory, Ferris Fain who hit his sixth homer and Dave Philley who belted his seventh. Athletics won 4 to 1. Shantz is 26 years old today.
