U.S. Gifts to Aid. Free China's Farms. Baltimore, Md., June 19--Produced on a rush order by the Friez division of Bendix Aviation Corporation here, these scientific weather instruments are being presented to the Chinese government by Vice- President Henry a. Wallace, as token gifts to aid Free China's long range agricultural and land conservation program. The instruments, being packed for the long journey by Jean Chaney and Virginia Lew, a Friez worker of Chinese descent, are a water level recorder and a recording rain and snow gauge. They will enable Chinese technicians to get better acquainted with the latest American devices for measuring intensity of rainfall, run-off, flood stages, irrigation.
