The instruments, being packed for the long journey by Jean Chaney and Virginia Lew, a Friez worker of Chinese descent, are a water level recorder and a recording rain and snow gauge. They will enable Chinese technicians to get better acquainted with the latest American devices for measuring intensity of rainfall, run-off, flood stages, irrigation.
