Upholding the New England tradition of fine craftsmanship, A. Stowell & Co. walked off with honors for its unusual and expert diamond ring design. The award was given by the Diamonds U. S. A. Awards committee which named 15 designers from United States and Canada for their new and original diamond designs. The Stowell winning ring is styled with a row of squarecut emeralds ending in a diamond passes by a row of brilliant-cut diamonds finished by an emerald. Other jewelry pieces in the top group included a bracelet priced at more than $100,000 that "wraps like satin," a set of women's cufflinks and shirt studs in star shapes and earrings shaped like crescent moons of diamonds and pearls.
