Trophy For Wilma – Wilma Rudolph Ward, track star at Tennessee A&I, receives Babe Didrikson Zaharias Memorial Trophy denoting Woman Athlete of the Year in 1961. Presentation is made by George Zaharias, husband of the great Babe before her death in 1956. Wilma and Babe both starred in Olympics, Wilma in 1960 and Babe in 1932. As Wilma Rudolph, Mrs. Ward was selected as The Associated Press Woman Athlete of the Year in 1960 and 1961.
